Sinusitis Treatment by Acupuncture

May 16th, 2014 — 11:44pm

Did you know that acupuncture can be used treat sinusitis? Sinusitis is an infection of the sinus caused by bacteria, viruses, fungi, moulds and affects millions of Canadians every year. When you breathe in through nose, your sinus filters out dust and pathogens. Those with sinusitis experience difficulty breathing, facial pain, blocked ears, congestion, and discharge of mucus. Conventionally, these symptoms are treated by oral, nebulized, or intravenous antibiotics, and in some cases, sinus surgery. Acupuncture can be an effective alternative treatment approach that does not require antibiotics. Acupuncture needles in certain points in the face and ears can open sinus passageways and improve circulation. White flower oil and steam herbs can also help open airways and allow the skin to breathe. In two or three months, clinical treatment along with home self-care can have profound healing effects on sinus infections, coughs, allergies and asthma.
